A notarization is usually the last step standing between you and something that matters: closing on a house, giving a family member authority to act for you, or getting a sworn statement to a court before a deadline. Driving across town to find a notary who is in, available and willing is the part nobody plans for. Addison Notary removes that step. Gwen comes to you, at a time you pick, anywhere within about 20 driving miles of Addison, Texas.
Who this is for
Mobile service exists for people whose day will not bend around a bank's notary desk, and for people who physically cannot travel.
- Your home. Young children, no car that day, a parent who should not be moved, or simply a document you would rather not carry around town.
- Your office. We sign in a conference room or at reception, so nobody has to leave the building.
- A hospital or care facility. Bedside signings at hospitals, skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care and hospice; see hospital and facility signings for how those appointments are handled.
- A coffee shop, library or other public place. You do not have to invite us into your home: pick a public spot if you prefer. It is also common when two people who do not share an address have to sign the same document.
- A jail or detention facility. These take advance coordination, because the facility sets the visiting rules, the identification rules and the schedule; we do not. Tell us which facility when you call, so we can confirm what it allows before you pay anything.
- An airport. Workable, but terminal access, parking and security time have to be built into the quote.
- Gwen's meeting spot in Addison. If you would rather come to her, meet Gwen at her meeting spot, an office building in Addison, on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm, by appointment only. The exact address and directions are sent after you book. It is the lowest price we offer.
Exactly what happens
- You tell us what you have. The type of document, how many signatures need notarizing, how many people are signing, and where and when you want to meet.
- We quote you in writing, before anything is booked. The quote shows the state notarial fee and the visit fee as two separate lines, because they are two different things.
- You confirm the appointment. We send the address, the arrival window and a short list of what to have on the table. Arrival times depend on traffic and weather; we confirm a time window when you book.
- We arrive and check identification. Every signer shows an unexpired government photo ID. Gwen confirms that each signer understands what they are signing and is signing willingly, with nobody pressuring them.
- You sign in front of Gwen. She completes the notarial certificate, applies the seal, and records the act in the Texas notary record book the law requires her to keep.
- You keep your documents. They never leave with us, unless the package itself is a return-shipping package, as in a loan signing.
What to have ready
- An unexpired government photo ID for every signer: a Texas driver license or ID card, a passport, a military ID, or a permanent resident card. The name on the ID has to match the name on the document closely enough for Gwen to identify you.
- The document, already written and with every blank filled in by you, except the signature. We do not write, fill out or choose documents, and we cannot decide what goes in a blank for you. Missing pages and empty fields stop a signing.
- Any accompanying documents: exhibits, attachments, and any instruction sheet from the party that will receive it.
- Do not sign it before the appointment. Some documents must be signed in front of the notary, and Gwen cannot always tell in advance which kind yours is, so the safe rule is to wait. Signing before Gwen arrives is the single most common reason an appointment has to be redone.
- Any witnesses the document requires. Some documents need one or two witnesses in addition to the notary, and a witness generally should not be someone who benefits from the document. We do not provide witnesses: you arrange and bring your own, each with a photo ID. Ask whoever prepared the document how many it needs.
What it costs, honestly
There are two numbers on every mobile appointment, and we keep them visibly apart.
| Charge | Amount | Set by |
| Acknowledgment or oath: first signature | $10.00 | Tex. Gov't Code § 406.024 |
| Each additional signer on the same certificate | $1.00 | Tex. Gov't Code § 406.024 |
| Visit fee, one per visit: you meet Gwen at her Addison meeting spot (weekdays 9 am–6 pm, by appointment) | $5.00 | Us: not a notarial fee |
| Visit fee, one per visit: we come to you anywhere in the Town of Addison | $15.00 | Us: not a notarial fee |
| Visit fee, one per visit: Zone 2, about 10 driving miles (e.g. Far North Dallas, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, most of Richardson, Preston Hollow, west Plano 75093 and 75075) | $25.00 | Us: not a notarial fee |
| Visit fee, one per visit: Zone 3, about 10 to 20 driving miles (e.g. Irving and Las Colinas, Coppell, most of Plano, Frisco, University Park, Highland Park, downtown and Uptown Dallas) | $45.00 | Us: not a notarial fee |
| Visit fee: beyond about 20 driving miles | Quoted before you book | Us: not a notarial fee |
A regular notarization is the $10 State fee, period. Nothing else is added per notarization. What you pay us is one visit fee per visit, however many documents or signers there are, and every in-person visit has one, including meet-ups and visits inside Addison. So one notarized signature is $15 at a meet-up ($5 + $10) or $25 when Gwen comes to you in Addison ($15 + $10); two notarizations in Zone 2 are $45 ($25 + $20).
Zones go by ZIP code: the ZIP code decides the zone, and your written quote confirms it before you book. If your address is inside the Town of Addison, it is the Addison price. See pricing for the full price list.
The visit fee pays for the travel, the time and the scheduling. It is not a notarial fee, it is never recorded as one, and it appears as its own line on your receipt. The visit fee is paid when you book, to reserve the time: cancel or reschedule 2 or more hours ahead for a full refund; inside 2 hours, half the visit fee is kept; a no-show, or an appointment that cannot go ahead (no valid ID, document not ready, or the signer not ready within 15 minutes of the appointment time), keeps the full visit fee. State fees are collected at the appointment, before anything is stamped. Paid parking, valet and tolls are charged at cost. Beyond about 20 driving miles, the visit fee is quoted before you book. Evenings (weekdays 6–9 pm), weekends (8 am–9 pm) and 8 am appointments by request add $20 per visit, late nights (9 pm–8 am) and holidays add $40, and a same-day rush (on the way within 2 hours) adds $25. A hospital, nursing home or care facility adds $25, and a jail or detention facility adds $80, paid in advance. You get that number before you agree to it, not after. The final amount is always confirmed with you before we book. See emergency and after-hours service for how those appointments are priced.
State notarial fees are set by Texas Government Code § 406.024 and § 406.111. Travel and convenience fees are separate and are not notarial fees.
What we do NOT do
Gwen is a commissioned Texas Notary Public, not an attorney. We notarize documents you provide; we do not prepare, draft, select or advise on documents. She cannot give legal advice, cannot tell you which document you need, and cannot tell you how to fill out your paperwork or what to write in it. Nor can she tell you what a document will mean for your situation. If that is what you need, speak with an attorney licensed in Texas first, then bring us the finished document.
Where we travel
Within about 20 driving miles of Addison 75001. Zone 2 (about 10 driving miles) covers Far North Dallas, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, most of Richardson, Preston Hollow, west Plano (75093 and 75075) and part of Lake Highlands. Zone 3 (about 10 to 20 driving miles) covers Irving and Las Colinas, Coppell, most of Plano, Frisco, Allen, University Park, Highland Park, Garland, Lewisville, The Colony, and downtown and Uptown Dallas. The ZIP code decides the zone. Outside that ring, ask. We will either quote the visit fee for the distance before you book, or tell you plainly that online notarization would serve you better and cost you less.
Book it
Tell us the document, the place and the time window, and you will get a written quote with the visit fee and the State fee itemized before anything is confirmed. Request an appointment.
